Address
Tomaszów Mazowiecki, św. Antoniego 37/39

Location
woj. łódzkie, pow. tomaszowski, gm. Tomaszów Mazowiecki (gm. miejska)

History The construction of the new Evangelical church began in 1897 and finished in 1902, when the church was officially consecrated. Between 1902 and 1904, the spacious area around the temple was planted with trees and a wrought iron fence was also constructed. The fence is set on a foundation with three entrance gates.

Description

The Evangelical church complex is located in the southern part of the town, on a land plot surrounded by the streets: Św. Antoniego, Seweryna, Szkolna and Bohaterów 14 Brygady. It was located on a large, trapezoid-shaped plot of land (with an area of approximately 1.5 ha). The residential and utility part is separated from the sacral part and it has a separate entrance from Św. Antoniego Street. The area around the church is situated opposite Doctor J. Rode Park. Together, they form a large green complex. The two areas share the same compositional axis.

In the green area adjacent to the church, groups of over one hundred year old trees have been preserved. They include both trees planted in rows as well as scattered clusters of trees.

The eastern edge of the green area is lined with horse chestnut trees, maples, pines and acacia trees. The western part, near the fence at Św. Antoniego Street, is overgrown by coniferous trees: white pines, black pines, Scots pines and spruces. In front of the clergy house, there is a small flower garden. The area around the church is occupied by a lawn with several over one hundred year old trees. Of particular interest is an impressive pedunculate oak, next to which there is a large stone with the dates 1417-1917 engraved on it, commemorating the posting by Martin Luther of the 95 Theses on the abuses of the Catholic clergy. Near the clergy house, there is a cluster of old trees, including maples and bird cherry trees. Opposite the church, near its east-facing side, there is a common ash tree. Among the trees, there are also many shrubs. A row of ornamental shrubs (mock-orange shrubs, viburnum, lilac bushes) separates the orchard from the surrounding area.

The site can be viewed from outside all year round. It can be toured inside upon prior arrangement with the parish authorities.
