A part of the Evangelical complex, dating to the same period and stylistically homogeneous with the neighbouring structures.

History

The construction of the new Evangelical church began in 1897 and finished in 1902, when the church was officially consecrated.

Around 1902, a utility building was erected. The building contained stables and carriage sheds. Its form corresponds to the Gothic Revival character of the church. The construction was supervised by Johannes Wende.

Description

The Evangelical church complex is located in the southern part of the town, on a plot surrounded by the streets: św. Antoniego, Seweryna, Szkolna and Bohaterów 14 Brygady. The residential and utility part is separated from the sacral part and has a separate entrance from św. Antoniego Street. The utility building is situated in the north-eastern residential part. The longer wing stands parallel to Seweryna Street, whereas the shorter wings enclose the utility yard.

Gothic Revival style. The building was erected on a floor plan resembling the letter L. It is two-storey and has no cellars.

The building is made from red bricks laid with lime-cement mortar. The outer walls are not plastered, the internal ones are partly plastered. The ceilings in the building include: reinforced concrete ceilings, Klein ceilings and wooden ceilings. The roof trusses are wooden, with a rafter and rafter-collar beam structure. The longer wing has a shed roof. The shorter wing is gabled and clad with bituminous felt layers.

All elevations are set on a plinth, with the storeys divided by cornices. Being flush with the fence, the northern elevation is best visible from Seweryna Street. It is six-axial. The axes on both storeys are defined by the blind window openings topped with a segmental arch. The western elevation consists of the blind gable wall, which belongs to the northern wing, and a fragment of the eastern wing. There are three double-wing gates (the middle one is slightly narrower than the other two), inserted in the openings topped with a segmental arch. In the second storey, there is one small window and one blende. The latter is pierced with two narrow openings. The southern elevation has six axes. In the fourth axis, there are entrance openings - a gate on the ground floor and a door above. In the first axis on the ground floor, there is also an entrance opening. Just as in the other elevations, the window openings are rectangular and topped with segmental arches. The eastern elevation has five axes defined by the window openings, mostly blind. The middle opening on the first floor has been bricked up.

The rooms are arranged in a row, with two rooms forming an enfilade.

The building can be viewed from outside all year round. It can be toured inside upon prior arrangement with the parish authorities.
