History

Bronów is a village dating back to medieval times. In the 18th century, it became the property of the Konopnicki family. A park was set up around the wooden manor house. It was probably created in stages. The oldest trees were planted at the end of the 18th century, and the quarter section (largely obliterated today) was established in the mid-19th century. The best-preserved landscape section of the park was set up after the completion of the present-day manor house in 1902. According to various accounts, the writer Maria Konopnicka, who lived in Bronów from 1862 to 1872, loved to take walks in the park.

Description

The park occupies an area of 8 ha. Its northern boundary is lined by horse chestnut trees, and the eastern one is lined by linden trees. At the western edge of the park, there are clusters of trees of various species. In the southernmost part of the park, there is a pond.

It has an irregular shape. One of the entrances to the park, which is unfenced, leads from the east, however, tourists usually enter the park from the west, where the manor house is situated. There is a wide alley leading to the manor house, lined with hawthorns. Near the manor house, there is a chestnut tree, which is one of the oldest preserved trees in this area. There is a wide driveway in front of the manor house.

The layout of the quarter section is still visible, but it has changed its purpose, because most of it is covered by arable fields today. The main axis of the quarter section is the road leading from the east to the west. The westward axis direction leads towards the pond. To the north of the heritage building, there is a small alley which leads to a gazebo formed by six hornbeams. According to various accounts, it was Maria Konopnicka’s favourite place. The park contains trees of many species, mostly birches, ashes, maples, black locusts and poplars.

accessible all year round
