An important element of the late Baroque sacred complex consisting of a church, a pair of bell towers and two morgues making part of the enclousure.

The northern morgue has retained its original form with decorations referring to its original purpose.

History of the object

Parish founded before 1429. The church complex (including morgues) was erected in the years 1732-37. It was founded by Franciszek Maksymilian Ossoliński, the Grand Treasurer of the Crown. Built under the direction of Jan Krzysztof Adrian Kluk, thanks to efforts of the son of the founder, Tomasz Ossoliński. Renovated after 1945, following the war damages. Southern morgue expanded in 1957 into a religious education room.

Description of the object

the church complex located in the town centre, at the north-eastern site of Ktzysztof Kluk Square. Morgues are part of the enclousure in its north-eastern and south-eastern corners. Northern Baroque, southern styleless.

Southern morgue on a square plan, one-story, covered with a pyramid roof topped with a skull on a plinth; a cross vault in the interior. Southern morgue on a rectangular plan with a vestibule, one-story, covered with a hip roof.

Brick-made, plastered. Northern morgue under pantile roofing, southern under sheet metal.

Visitor access: The building can be viewed from the outside.
