An important element of the late Baroque sacred complex consisting of a church, a pair of bell towers and two morgues making part of the enclousure.

An example of an architectural solution often used in the Podlasie Province (Tykocin, Wyszków Węgrowski) in the first half of the 18th century, consisting in flanking the towerless facade of the church with two identical, free-standing bell towers, as in the parish church in Węgrów, rebuilt by Tylman of Gameren in 1703-1706.

History of the object

Parish founded before 1429. The church complex (including bell towers) was erected in the years 1732-37. It was founded by Franciszek Maksymilian Ossoliński, the Grand Treasurer of the Crown. Built under the direction of Jan Krzysztof Adrian Kluk, thanks to efforts of the son of the founder, Tomasz Ossoliński. Devastated during the war, the church was renovated after 1945.

Description of the object

The church complex is located in the town centre, at the north-eastern site of Ktzysztof Kluk Square. Bell towers are part of the enclousure in its north-western and south-western corners. Baroque.

On a square floor plan, two-story, covered with steep pyramid shaped roofs.

Brick-made, plastered. Roofs structures are made of brick, the slopes are covered with sheet metal; vocal openings sills covered with pantiles. Cross vaults in the ground floor rooms.

Lower storeys, in the pedestal part, accessible through two doors from the side of the church cemetery. The high upper storeys open with four arcades-voice openings. Accessible through four arcades-voice openings. The corners are accentuated by double Tuscan pilasters with imposts incorporated into entablature of the elevations.

The object accessibility to the visitors: The monument can be viewed from the outside.
