A very interesting and rare example in Podlasie Province of the classicist style in a building for economic purposes.

Preserved in its original form.

History of the structure

Erected in the 1830s. The given dates are 1830 and 1837. During World War II, it functioned as amilk depot. Renovated in 1945 and in 1970s. (replacement of plasters, roofing and partially of the roof truss). In 2013, a general renovation: replacement of plasters, roofing, removal of the mono-pitched roof over the basement and covering it with a concrete ceiling, replacement of window frames, brickworking the entrance to the basement.

Description of the object

Located in the north-eastern part of the parish church complex of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to the east from the presbytery, next to the fence enclosing its area. Classicist style.

Two-storey, erected on the floor plan of an elongated rectangle, with a rectangular basement added on its western side. Covered with a gable roof; basement with a flat roof. Entrances to the main building and the basement are in the shorter eastern elevation; to the main building preceded by stairs, bricked up to the basement, covered with a small gable roof. At the top, a wooden gable roof covering the crane. Corners of the building reinforced with buttresses.  

The building is made of brick, its walls covered with plaster. The roof is covered with plain tiles. Plastered beamed ceiling. Concrete flooring. The entrance door in the main building is made of wood, single-winged, diamond-shape planked, set with studs. Window openings bricked up to ¾ of their height, wooden window fames.

The top elevations are uniaxial, lengthwise six axial, divided by strip cornices: cordon and crowning. In the front elevation, flanked with corner buttresses, there are two entrance openings, in the first and second storey. The one on the grand floor is framed by two pairs of half-columns with profiled heads, and the one in the second storey is framed with two simplified pilasters. In the remaining elevations, semicircular window openings with a key.

Inside, there is a vestibule with stairs leading to the first floor and an enfilade of three rooms; second storey and basement are single spaceed. 

Visitors access: the building may be explored upon prior arrangement with its owner.
