Neoclassical building from the mid-19th century

History

Residential building with an outbuilding. The front house was erected in the mid-19th century. The outbuilding was added in the 20th century.

Description

The townhouse with its northern outbuilding is situated in the quarter between the following streets: Rwańska, Sieradzka, Rycerska, Wojska Polskiego. It is the second house from the south in the western frontage of Rwańska Street. It stands between two-storey townhouses of a similar character.

The building follows an L-shaped floor plan. The front part is two-bay, with a central hall and a staircase. The outbuilding has a single bay. It is a one-storey building, with a cellared front part and a high attic. The townhouse is made from ceramic bricks laid with lime mortar. The walls are covered with plaster on both sides. In the cellars, there are barrel vaults. The upper floors have wooden beam ceilings. The building is covered with a gable roof with a rafter-collar beam structure. Two queen posts with raking shores are arranged symmetrically and support two horizontal beams on which the collar beam is based. It braces the rafters based on the wall plates. The roof is covered with ceramic tiles. In the hallway, there is a ceramic floor. In other rooms of the building, the floors are made from wooden planks. The stairs are two-flight, straight, made of brick, with wooden steps and a wooden balustrade with supporting balusters.

The window and door openings are rectangular, each with a straight-sided head. Double, casement windows. Each wing is divided into three sections. The balcony door has two frame-panelled wings. In the upper part of each wing, there are four glazed sections. The wooden entrance door has two frame-panelled wings and a glazed fanlight. Inside, there are one- and two-wing panel doors.

The front (eastern) elevation is two-storey and five-axial. It is set on a high foundation. The axes are arranged against the background of smoothly plastered walls. On the ground floor, there is a rectangular niche with an entrance door placed centrally in the façade. Above it, there is a balcony door. The balcony is missing. Only three decorative brackets remain. The doors on both storeys are surrounded by pilasters equal in height to the elevation. The remaining axes on each storey are accented by the rectangular window openings. There are similar pilasters along the outer corners of the elevation. The wall is highlighted by a prominent cornice. Above the central opening, it is decorated with a dentil frieze. Above the frieze, there is a triangular pediment surrounded by a frame. Inside the tympanum, there is a triangular decorative panel. The western wall is two-storey and five-axial. The axes are positioned against the background of a smoothly plastered wall, which is asymmetrical. On the third axis on the ground floor, there is a door opening. The other axes on the elevation are accented by the window openings.

Private property. The building can be viewed from outside.
