A distinctive example of historic architecture with valuable details.

History

W 1560 Głogoczów, Włosań, and Mogilany became the object of exchange carried out by Cistercian abbot Jan Janowski with voivod of Sandomierz Wawrzyniec Spytko Jordan from Zakliczyn - they were exchanged for villages located closer to Szczyrzyc, and from that time, the Mogilany estate along with Głogoczów had remained a property of the Jordan family.

In the 18th century, the manor house was extended. It is probable that at that time, it was no longer used as a residence, but as a granary or storehouse (lamus). It was then that it was covered by a distinctive stepped roof clad with wood shingles and that the unique wooden arcaded porch on posts was created.

According to the catalogue of monuments of the Krakowskie voivodeship, the time of construction of the storehouse was determined for the 18th century. However in reality, on the basis of claims of the former owner - engineer Stanisław Konopki, the historical lamus comes from 1657. That date allegedly was on the larch door which, similarly as wooden crossbeams of the floor and ceilings were burned down by the Hungarian army which stationed there in the winter of 1914.

In the inter-war period, the building was re-adapted for residential purposes. The rectangular interior of the lamus was separated in 1923 by two parallel walls, and changed into an apartment. From the west, half of the building was occupied by the then owner, while its eastern part, not inhabited, was destroyed.

Due to the historical value of the building which is a testimony of the historical Polish culture, the Communal National Council in Głogoczow obtained subsidies from the Voivodeship Conservation Office, owing to which the destroyed part of the building was thoroughly renovated with the help of the local carpenters and stonemasons. In the place of rotten ceiling crossbeams, new ones were installed which protrude above the porch and support the whole roof. The new floor was laid, the window structure was reinforced with rails embedded in the wall, new doors and windows were installed, and damaged chimneys and stove from fireclay brick were repaired. In the room renewed in such a way, the communal library operated for some time, and the residents of Głogoczów and Bęczarka gathered museum artefacts here which then were transferred to the Regional Museum of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK) in Myślenice.

Description

The storehouse is located on the western side of the "Zakopianka" route (national road no. 7), in the village of Głogoczów. It is situated just by the road, below the manor house.

The so-called manor house lamus in Głogoczów is in reality a historic Renaissance defensive residence, once circumscribed by a moat. It was built in the fork of Głogoczówka and Włosanka rivers, in a place with natural defensive features, probably after 1560, where the Jordan family became the owner of Głogoczów.

The building is rectangular in shape 11 m long and 10 m wide, with a stepped roof of Polish type, single-storey, with basements with massive vaulting. It is adjoined along the wall from the south by a wooden arcaded porch with four posts.

Private property.
