A complex including a hillfort and two tribal settlements, in southeastern Wielkopolska region.

History

A concave circular hillfort, extended by a second semicircular rampart, surrounded by a moat. In the 14th century, Ociąż belonged to the Zbylut family.

Description of the structure

Location of the historic structure. Among meadows, 600 m east from the Ociąż-Morawin colony, 800 m from the Ostrów-Kalisz railway line and 250 m from the Ciemna (Trzemna) stream.

Description of the site. A concave circular hillfort, extended by a second semicircular rampart, surrounded by a moat. Dimensions: 80 x 60 m, rampart height from 3 to 6 m, overgrown with deciduous forest. Local name: Marywin.

History of the site. Known at least since the early 20th century Entered in the register of historic monuments in 1985.

Progress and findings of archaeological research. Field research by Józef Kostrzewski in 1917, Wojciech Kočka in 1935, Stanisław Jasnosz in 1956. Research within the AZP (Archaeological Picture of Poland) project in 1984.

Visitor access. The site is open to the public, visible from the road as a clump of trees.
