History of the structure
conical hillfort (motte-and-bailey castle) with a rampart and the relics of a moat. Lack of precise chronology. It probably existed at the end of the 14th century - for the first time Lubasz was mentioned in 1392; in 1460 Helena de Lubasz, Jarosław Lubaski’s wife was mentioned; 1479 Dobrogost de Lwow, castellan of Międzyrzec; 1485 Mikołaj Lubaski de Lubasz.
Description of the structure
Location of the historic structure. In a manor park, 50 m south of the shoreline of the Great (Big) Lake, 100 m north of the Dubielna stream, in an alder forest.
Description of the site. Conical hillfort with a depression on top, dimensions 50 x 30 m, height up to 10 m, with a visible outline of the moat. Embankment of earth and timber (grate) construction.
History of the site. Known at least from the 2nd half of the 19th century. Entered in the register of historic monuments in 1934.
Progress and findings of archaeological research. Inspection of the site: in the second half of the 19th century; amateur research in 1890 and 1898; surface surveys during the interwar period, in 1943 and 1986.
Visitor access. The site is open to the general public; it may be difficult to access the site when the water level in the lake rises.
