A part of a sacral complex with a rich history and a significant role in the history of Rawa Mazowiecka.

History

The present day building was erected in the 1850s, during one of the renovations of the church. The Passionist Fathers had previously lived in a wooden building and then in a brick one, but of a different shape. In 1990, a new monastery building was erected and the existing one was converted into an educational institution.

Description

The building stands to the north of the church and is connected to it by a roofed, gallery-like passage supported by an arcade. From the west and north, it is surrounded by a garden. From the east, it adjoins a modern residential building.

Stylistically neutral. The monastery was built on a rectangular floor plan. It is a three-storey and cellared building. From the north, it is adjoined by a modern two-storey annex.

The building is made of brick laid with lime mortar. Its walls are plastered on both sides. It has a wooden roof truss. The roof is covered with modern roof tiles.

The western elevation has seven axes. The central axis contains the entrance on the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a balcony. The storeys are partitioned by cornices. The corners are accentuated by rustication. The rectangular window openings are contoured with surrounds. The eastern elevation is designed in a similar way, but without the entrance opening. Above the window positioned on the central axis of the ground floor, there is a small recess (interrupting the cornice which divides the storeys) with a figure of the Virgin Mary. In the southern, three-axial elevation on the first floor, there is a roofed gallery which leads to the oratory. The northern elevation on the ground floor is a contemporary addition. The unroofed part of the first floor is three-axial.

The building has two bays and a half. A corridor is running across the central part of the building. On both its sides, there are the former monastic cells.

The building is accessible to visitors upon prior arrangement with the Passionist Fathers.
