The palace in Dziesław is an interesting example of Silesian Baroque architecture and a project associated with an outstanding architect of the era - Martin Franz.

History

Georg von Braun (died 1588) was the oldest known owner of the property in Dziesław (until 1945 - Deichslau). In 1653 Georg von Langenau was mentioned as the owner of the local estate. After his death, the estate was divided into three subestates. This state of affairs lasted until 1738, when the estates were reunited by Hans Albrecht von Langenau. It was him and his wife Christine Charlotte von Mudrach who was one of the initiators of the Dziesław Palace construction in the 1730s. The palace was probably built according to the design of Martin Franz, destroyed in 1945, now there are ruins of the building. In 1st half of 19th century a romantic park was created around the palace (for the von Schkopp family).

Description

The palace-park complex in Dziesław is located in the north-western part of the village, north of the main village road. The palace is located on a small hill. Originally it referred to the type of residence called “entre cour et jardin”. The palace is a three-winged building with the façade facing south and two avant-corps strongly protruding from the south; two-storeys, previously covered with a mansard roof with dormers. An honorary courtyard with a high oval driveway was established in front of the palace; the rear façade was originally open to a quadrangular ornamental garden. The entrance to the palace is embraced by a balcony entrance portal topped with a segmented fronton with the owners’ coats of arms.

Currently the building is ruined: the peripheral walls are preserved up to the height of the string course; there is no roof, rafter framing or ceilings.

Historical monument ruined, no access.
