The Evangelical church complex in Bystrzyca Klodzka was designed by an outstanding architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

This is an artistic import and one of the earliest surviving implemented projects of its kind. The additional composition of the whole complex of the Evangelical church in Bystrzyca Klodzka, forming the north-east frontage of the Little Market Square, proves its significant artistic value.

Historia

After 1742 the Evangelical services were celebrated in Bystrzyca Kłodzka first in a room at the Town Hall. An evangelical school was operated in the market house until 1810. The Evangelical church and school were built with the king’s support and at his expense, according to a design by building inspector Friedrich presented to Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Meanwhile, this architect made a substitute project of the entire designed complex of buildings, including also the tower incorporated into the city fortifications. The school building represents the Neo-Classical style combined with the arcade style and Florentine Neo-Renaissance (rustication). In 1821-1823 an Evangelical church was built in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, at the same time also a school at Mały Rynek, the second town square. In 1964, the church and school were redeveloped inside, combined, and adapted for exhibition purposes. In 1978 a new part of the building was erected between the church and the school.

Opis

The designed Evangelical church complex is erected in the north-eastern frontage of the Little Square in a terraced arrangement. It consists of a church and a school, also built of brick, plastered, and positioned with the gable facing the square. Originally there was a curtain wall with a gate between the church and the school. The school is built on a square plan, with two sections, two-stories and a gable roof. The façades are divided by cornices, the front and rear façades are topped with triangular gables.

The site is accessible all year round.
