History

The first mentions of Wronów date back to the 13th century. Documents from the mid-15th century refer to Przecław from Wronów. Till the late 18th century, Wronów belonged to the Bohemian line of the Fuerstenberg family. In 1867, the estate was bought by Aleksander von Salscha and members of his family owned it until the 20th century.

The palace was built in the second half of the 18th century or in the early 19th century. In 1907, it was redesigned at the initiative of Emanuel Salsch. The design of the neo-Baroque residence was prepared by architect Robert Weber.

Description

The palace in Wronów is situated in the north-western part of the village, in a palace and manor farm complex. To the east of the palace, there is an extensive, 19th-century landscape park, and to the west - manor farm buildings and walls with an entrance gate.

Originally, the palace was built on a rectangular floor plan and its body was compact. During the re-designing works, a southern wing, clock tower, two terraces (from the east and from the south-west) and a winter garden covered with a glazed roof were added. At that time, the shallow entrance avant-corps was preceded by a flight of stairs shaped as a horseshoe.

The palace is made of brick and plastered. It has two storeys and a usable attic. Its body, with distinct sections, is covered with a mansard roof with numerous dormers with round arches in their top sections. In the south-western part, there is a quadrangular clock tower topped with a terrace, overlooking the palace. Its top section forms an octagonal belvedere covered with a cupola.

The façades are articulated with rectangular window openings and feature surviving fragments of earlier architectural decoration in the form of rustication and pilasters. In the central part, there are shallow avant-corps topped with a semi-circular pediment. They are framed on the sides from the east, west, and south with pilasters with a vase in the top section. In the pediment of the front avant-corps, there are two oval coat of arms cartouches. The main entrance to the palace is located at the level of the first storey and preceded by a flight of stairs forming a horseshoe shape. The portal is topped with a pediment with a segmental arch.

The interior of the manor house is of two-bay type, with a transverse suite of rooms and hall with a staircase on the main axis, behind the vestibule. Another staircase is located in the tower. The original layout of rooms was transformed in the 1980s. At that time, the palace was adopted for residential purposes. The original fittings have been partially preserved: fireplace, stairs, wood panelling, and internal window and door joinery
