History
Szczawnica’s Lower Park was established between 1861 and 1868. The pavilion was built in the 1st quarter of the 20th century over the Wanda spring of medicinal water; it was opened in 1867.
Description
It is situated in the upper part of the park, on a slight slope, along an alley. It reveals some features of the Zakopane style. It was designed on a Greek cross plan. It is covered with abutment roofs with arcaded friezes and a “sun” motif in the gables, separate for each arm of the cross. The roof ridges are crossed. At their intersection, there is a square-shaped turret; the walls are decorated with the motif of Edelweiss embedded in a rosette. The wooden pavilion is rested on pillars; it is open and sits on a stone cellar. The roof truss is made of wood rafters and covered with metal sheet. The façades are openwork, three-axial; the construction beams are chamfered. The pillars supporting the roof in the lower part are connected by a full railing decorated with geometrical ornaments and crossed in the upper section. A beam, coffered ceiling inside with plank covering. The tips of the ceiling beams are finished in a cymoid shape. The gables are vertically boarded with planks featuring a “sun” motif.
The structure can be accessed from inside and outside.
