It is a well-preserved, one of the few examples of a formerly popular smock mills in the area of present Podlasie Province.

Mieczysław Pawlik, an eminent expert on windmills, stated that it is one of the most beautiful objects in the Białystok region.

History of the structure

The constructor and builder of the mill was Kazimierz Bartulewicz, the owner of the windmill. Its construction was completed in 1937. It operated until 1948 and then it was closed.

Description of the structure

A wooden structure with mullion-transom walls located in an open landscape on a hill on the eastern side of the Białystok-Augustów road (national road No. 8). It takes the form of a truncated pyramid with a regular octagonal base and walls narrowing upwards. The building has a basement and three usable storeys. The individual storeys are connected by single-flight stairs. The structure is 1230 cm high and its base is 800 cm wide. The rotatable cap of the mill rests on a bearing consisting of two oak centrings, between which there are 40 rollers. The structure without wings is under a pyramid roof covered with sheet metal. On the top, a metal flag with the date: 1937 The grinding mechanisms were dismantled as early as 1950.

Visitor access: The structure is inaccessible to visitors.
