Description
An 18th-century palace designed in the Classicist style. Erected on a rectangular floor plan, it is a two-storey building covered with a mansard roof with dormer windows. The front façade of the palace faces the grange. The southern (front) façade follows a seven-axial design with a central, three-axial pseudo-avant-corps crowned with a decorative pediment. The entrance portal, positioned in the middle of the pseudo-avant-corps, features a decorative surround with label stops, flanked by two engaged columns supporting the entablature above. Above the entrance there is an embedded coat of arms of the von Richthofen family. Overlooking the garden beyond the palace, the northern façade likewise follows a seven-axial design with a central, three-axial pseudo-avant-corps preceded by a colonnaded portico with a terrace above. The side façades follow a five-axial layout. The architectural detailing of the palace includes rusticated corners, a string course between the storeys as well as window surrounds inspired by Baroque architecture.
In the basements, there are original barrel vaults with lunettes. The ground floor level features surviving decorative plasterwork framing designed to enliven the appearance of the walls. Towards the end of the 19th century, the palace was modernised, with a number of Renaissance Revival and Baroque Revival flourishes being added. After 1945, the palace, now abandoned, was slowly beginning to dilapidate. Today, the renovation works are almost complete.
The building can only be viewed from the outside.
