The Church was established for Evangelicals brought under the Frederick's colonization. It represents an aisleless church, with a pulpit altar, which is one of the few examples of that type that has been preserved in Silesia.

History

Radomierowice were founded in 1722 as a Plümkenau colony during the settlement campaign initiated by Prussian king Frederick II. The settlers, mostly Protestants, came mainly from the German states, Palatinate and Hesse. In addition to giving them incorporation rights and privileges, the state also funded a church for the evangelical community. The construction of the wooden church in 1787-1788 was led by carpenter Petzer according to a design by Christian Isemer. The church was consecrated on 8 February 1789. It underwent full-scale renovation in 1860. After World War 2, the church was taken over by a Catholic parish, and the pulpit altar typical of the Protestant liturgical space was divided.

Description

The former evangelical church is located in the south-east part of the town and surrounded by a small cemetery. The half-framed church consists of a rectangular nave covered with a hip roof; to the west, it adjoins a narrower square-shaped tower surmounted by a cupola. All roofs are shingled. The structure of the walls is stabilised by corner braces, which are crossed in the tower. The façades are made up of grillwork featuring a wooden structure with whitened brick infill; they are characterised by a rhythmic arrangement of windows at two levels and a profiled cornice under the eaves in the top section.

In the single-space interior (characteristic of the newly built churches), the sacristy was separated in the north-eastern corner. Wooden galleries supported by posts run along the three walls; the west one serves as a choir. The interior design is very modest; the components of the wooden structure are uncovered, the nave is covered with a beamed ceiling. In the eastern part there is a former pulpit altar from around 1790, which was deprived of the pulpit around the mid-20th century. The removed pulpit (exceptionally dominant in size over the altar) is kept under a choir, and its place is occupied by a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa. The stairs that led to it from the sacristy and a canopy have been preserved to this day. The baptismal font and organ also date back to the time of the founding of the church.

The church is in use and is open to visitors. It belongs to the Parish of Saint. Mary of the Snows in Dąbrówka Dolna.
