The church in Osowa Sień is a valuable and representative example of a Gothic stone churches of the rural type.

It has been preserved in an unchanged form. By the church, there is an 18th-century wooden tower.

History

The first references to a rectory in Osowa Sień come from the turn of the 1440 and 1450. In 1568, the church was donated by the village owner - A. Ossowski, to the Protestant community and remained property of the community until 1700. In that period, the chancel was vaulted, the nave was extended upwards and a sacristy was added. The wooden tower comes from the 18th century. In 1903, a full-scale renovation of the facility was performed. At that time the walls of the nave were extended upwards.

Description

The church is made of field stone and granite, and the upward extension of the nave is made of brick. It was built on a floor plan of two adjoining rectangles - the nave and a narrower chancel. From the north-east, the chancel is adjoined by a sacristy built on a rectangular floor plan. It is connected with a trapezoidal porch through a passage. The corner of the nave body and the chancel is adjoined from the north by a wooden tower on a square floor plan, built using the wattle-and-daub technique and covered with weatherboards. The nave, which is covered with a gable roof, is adjoined from the east by a higher and narrower chancel, also topped with a gable roof. The tower is topped with a tented roof. In the chancel, there is a stellar vault. The sacristy is covered with a barrel vault, and over the nave, there is a wooden ceiling. The façades are not plastered. They are pierced with windows splayed reveals, with semicircular or pointed arches. In the single-nave interior, historical fittings include, among other things, Baroque altarpieces and a wooden pipe organ casing resting on columns. Particularly valuable elements include, among other things, a Renaissance epitaph of Jan Ossowski.

The site is open to the public. It can be visited by prior telephone arrangement.
