Location

History
The building was erected within the boundaries of a Protestant colony of the Czech Brethren community. The church having the shape of a horseshoe resembled a residential house since by order of the Prussian authorities it could not stand out in terms of architecture. In 1759, during the Seven Years War, the church was burned down by Russian troop, similarly as all buildings of the colony. It was rebuilt ten years later on a simplified rectangular floor plan. In the early 1960s the building was adapted for use as a gym by removing the original fixtures and fittings and adding an annex of the locker room.
Description
The structure is located in the south-western section of the town, in the downtown, in a densely built-up area of Z. Wróblewskiego Street, perpendicular to Wrocławska Street, the main artery of the town. It is built of brick and stone, on a rectangular floor plan, and is covered with a gable roof. The roof ridge features a steeple with a clock, covered with a bulbous dome. The plastered facades of the church are accentuated by minimal architectural detail in the form of pilasters, cornices and window surrounds. The north-facing wall is pierced by large windows terminating in segmental arches. The single interior space is covered with a wooden ceiling. The original decor and fixtures and fittings have not been preserved.
Limited access to the monument. Viewing of the church is only possible by prior telephone arrangement.
