The granary in Janów, built in the late 18th century, was one of the first buildings of a palace-park-and-manor farm complex.

History

The granary in Janów was built in the late 18th century on the other side of the porte-cochère to the palace. The oldest part of the estate included only the residence and the granary. Only in the first half of the 19th century, further manor farm buildings were erected such as: stable, sheepfold, barns, and further granaries). From approx. 1900 to 1945, the estate was owned by the Moll family. Currently, the buildings are a private property.

Description

The building is located in the north-eastern part of Janów, in a palace-park-and-manor farm complex. The area is enclosed from the north and the west with a brick fence with an entrance gate (from the west), which directly adjoins the road from Pogorzela to Łosiów.

The granary is located in the northern part of the complex, to the north from the entrance gate and to the west from the palace. The building is made of brick and its façades are covered with smooth plasterwork; it was erected on a rectangular floor plan, with the entrance in the eastern façade. It is a two-storey building with a two-level attic, covered with a high gable roof and topped with profiled cornices. A quadrangular annex was added to it from the north.

The front (eastern) façade is three-axial, with the entrance on the middle axis. The three axial western façade is articulated with two rows of small window openings in the shape of horizontal rectangles. The side (southern) façade is two-axial, with window openings shaped as horizontal rectangles in the bottom section and small oval windows protected by grid in the attic. The northern façade, up to the level of the attic, is obscured in most part by a wall of the annex. The annex is covered by a shed roof. Originally, there was a solar clock on the southern façade of the granary. The granary’s interior is of a single-space type.

Limited access to the monument. Private property.
