Manor house

manor house Górka

Address
Górka, 2

Location
woj. podlaskie, pow. sokólski, gm. Krynki - obszar wiejski

One of the few wooden manor houses dating back to the first half of the 18th century, that have survived in the Podlasie region.

It has historical value due to the owners of the property, in particular the famous Krzeczowski family of Tatar origin and Daszkiewicz family, who were later owners of the estate.

History of the object

The existing building of the manor house was probably constructed by the Daszkiewicz family in the first half of the 19th century. Originally there was a Boyar village in this area. It was liquidated in the 17th century, and in 1679 the land was given by Jan III Sobieski to a Tatar, Samuel murza Krzeczowski, cavalry officer of the Tatar banner. Since then until the end of the 18th century, Górka remained in the hands of the Krzeczowski family and was the center of small estates, which in the 18th century included, apart from the village of Górka, Ciumicze and Komarowszczyzna. In 1790, it was part of the estate of Madame Kruczkowska, wife of the cavalry officer serving in the king’s army. It included, apart from the Górka manor house, several dwellings and an inn in the village of Górka, 13 dwellings in Kruszyniany, Ciumicze manor house, 8 dwellings and an inn in the village of Ciumicze, the Komarowszczyzna alias Kruszyniany manor house with an inn and 21 dwellings and an inn in Łużany. In 1797 Górka belonged to Małgorzata Daszkiewiczowa née Kobylińska and to her husband Michał Korybut Daszkiewicz (died in 1823, mentioned in 1809), cavalry officer of the Vilnius Province, president of the Grodno court who was the son of Hilary Korybut Daszkiewicz (born 1760), a hunter from Grodno. After Michał's death, the property was owned by his widow - Małgorzata née Kobyliński (mentioned in 1837) and their son Platon (born 1811, died 1871) and then the Plato and Adolfina’s son (died after 1939) - Michał Korybut Daszkiewicz. After Michał Korybut Daszkiewicz, who was mentioned as the owner of Górka in 1928, the property was inherited by his daughter Helena Jeżewska (born 1890, died 1984), wife of Bronisław Jeżewski. After the outbreak of World War II and the deportation of Helena Jeżewska and Adolfina Korybut Daszkiewiczowa deep into the USSR, the property was deserted and underwent significant deterioration. Despite the return of Jeżewska in 1946, it was parceled out after the war, and the manor house was transferred to the Krynki state farm, currently the manor house is privately owned.

Description of the object

The manor house in Górka was positioned on a small, partially forested hill, located south of the Nietupa river valley, in the vicinity of the intersection of local roads connecting Krynki and several neighboring settlements. The manor house, preserved to this day within a partially preserved historic manor park, was built in the 19th century. It is set on a rectangular floor plan, wooden, frame construction, shuttered, on a stone foundation, two-bay with a porch and a centrally located entrance, with a half-hipped roof covered with metal tiles.

Visitor access: The object can be visited after agreement with the owners.
