History
A conical hillfort surrounded by a rampart, in 1389 owned by Tomisław Chełmski; 1402-1427 by Pietrasz Chełmski.
Description of the structure
Location of the heritage site. The hillfort called the Slavic hillfort, Żarnowiecka Hill, is located about 1.5 km south of Jakubowo, 1.2 km west of the bridge over the Mogilnica River, 100 m east of the parking place near the board on the educational trail.
Description of the site. Upland hillfort, conical, surrounded by a rampart, on a natural forested hill 96.4 meters above sea level.
History of the site. Known at least since the beginning of the 20th century, in 1969 entered into the register of historic monuments as an early medieval hillfort.
Progress and findings of archaeological research. Excavations carried out in 1911 without any definite results, surface excavations in 1922, in 1987 research within the AZP (Archaeological Picture of Poland) project, on the basis of which the hillfort is probably dated to the late Middle Ages
Visitor access. The site is accessible to visitors, located on an educational trail.
