History

As the first owner of Dąbrówka Górna, Henryk Groschik (15th century) originating from Groszowice near Opole, is referenced. In 1490, the village belonged to the Rogoyski family. At their initiative, on the ruins of a castle destroyed in the Thirty Years’ War, a manor house was erected on which today’s palace is based. The Rogoyski family owned the estate in Dąbrówka Górna until the early 19th century, when it was taken over by barons named Dalwigk.

From approx. 1850 to 1945, the palace remained in the hands of the von Teichmann-Logischen family. In the years 1905-1907, it was thoroughly re-designed: the northern wing and tower were built, and some variations were added to the façades.

In the post-war period, the palace was used for administrative and office purposes, as a kindergarten, and as a hotel.

Description

The palace in Dąbrówka Górna is located in the centre of the village, on the eastern side of the road leading from Zimnice Wielkie to Rogów Opolski, within a palace and manor farm complex. To the west from the palace, there are two manor farm yards: the northern yard, shaped as a rectangle, separated from the residential section with a brick wall with two wicked gates, and the southern yard, shaped as a horseshoe. From the road, the palace complex is enclosed with fencing which is made of stone and has a gatehouse and a pointed-arch drive-way in the northern section. Its southern section is made of brick and features round turrets, and a pointed-arch blind window (originally a drive-way). From the other sides, the palace neighbours a park with a pond and a legendary spring of St Hedwig.

The Baroque, two-storey buildings was erected on a rectangular floor plan, with the longer façade on the north-south axis. The palace is covered with a hip roof with dormers. At a later time, neo-Gothic arcaded porches with terraces were added to it from the south (with a glazed veranda) and the east. During the alterations performed in the early 20th century, a three-storey transverse northern wing was added with a semi-circular turret incorporated in the corner. Between the wings, another porch was built, topped with a terrace from the east, and a five-storey tower, constituting a vertical dominant feature of the complex, topped with a belvedere with a tented hip roof.

The palace is made of brick, with plastered façades articulated by regularly arranged rectangular window openings in stone surrounds with label stops and pediments in the form of segments of a cornice adorned with festoons and garlands. The façades of the northern wing are covered with rusticated strips at the level of the ground storey, and the façades of the Baroque wing are articulated with rusticated pilasters. On the axis of its wing, in the western façade, there is a portal topped with a segmental arch. It contains coats of arms of the Teichmann-Logischen family. In the tower façade at the level of the second storey, there is a balcony.
