Wooden churches in the Lubuskie voivodeship constitute a large and diverse group of buildings with unique historical, artistic, and scientific features. There are about sixty historical churches based on a log structure, timber frame, or on a mixed structure. They are located primarily in the northern and central part of the voivodeship.
The Lubuskie voivodeship is a territory including areas of various historical and geographic affiliation, and therefore, with a variegated and rich historical legacy, preserved in tangible cultural heritage. These are the areas of Silesia, Brandenburg (Margraviate), Greater Poland, Lower Lusatia, the marches, Posen-West Prussia. The affiliation of individual areas to different states and religious transformations had an enormous impact on the sacred architecture of today’s Lubuskie voivodeship.
